Anyhow, I agree with your assessment that plug-in electric/ICE hybrids are the most likely near term automotive development (see www.calcars.org for their work on Toyota Prius). This 3x to 5X mileage boost will likely get us through the next 10-20 years. Beyond that, I'm hoping steadily improving battery technologies and electric utility improvements will keep us going. At this point, I see no plausible role for hydrogen, in either transportation, large scale utility, mobile electronics, or any other market.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12986851.post-1130211800484615252005-10-24T20:43:00.000-07:002005-10-24T20:43:00.000-07:00Hi Yvonne, I came across your site while searching...Hi Yvonne, I came across your site while searching for some related information. I think increasing reliance on electricity is more likely than a hydrogen economy.

Daniel SweeneyYvonnehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08799764840250471053noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12986851.post-1129666684535150692005-10-18T13:18:00.000-07:002005-10-18T13:18:00.000-07:00ThanksDaniel SweeneyThanks

Daniel SweeneyYvonnehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08799764840250471053noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12986851.post-1129141601864157102005-10-12T11:26:00.000-07:002005-10-12T11:26:00.000-07:00Still, while things like oceanic hydrothermal is b...Still, while things like oceanic hydrothermal is by nature highly localised, there could still be an awful lot of it produced to be converted into some sort of transportable form.

I tend to think that the problem isn't going to be total energy, but easily-transportable high-density energy. If, say, we're a gasoline/oil nation now, we'll hopefully be an electric nation in 30 years.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
